Tehran, March 18 -- Iran has vowed swift revenge for the killing of its top national security advisor Ali Larijani as well as Basij commander Gholamreza Soleimani.

Senior commanders indicated that a deadly response against Israel was imminent, with IRGC figure Sardar Mousavi warning of a "rapid strike".

"Tonight, the enemy's sky will become more spectacular," he said, according to state media, indicating heavy drone and missile attacks.

Shortly afterwards, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had launched "intense" strikes against Israel in direct retaliation.
