Tehran, June 24 -- The future of Iran's nuclear programme has emerged as a major hinderance towards securing a long-term agreement between Tehran and Washington, after Iranian officials rejected suggestions that UN inspectors would soon be granted access to nuclear facilities.

The dispute follows remarks by senior US officials, including President Donald Trump, who said Iran had agreed to allow inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to visit key nuclear sites as part of ongoing negotiations.
