Tehran, Aug. 23 -- Iran's new security chief on Sunday warned that Tehran is prepared to broaden the conflict if Gulf states cooperate with the United States' economic pressure campaign, threatening to halt oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and target alternative export routes.
The warning comes as Washington prepares to intensify its economic campaign against Tehran.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is due to hold a news conference Monday after pledging measures against Iran that have "never been seen." Trump has also threatened an "economic D-Day" against Iran.
