New York, Sept. 23 -- Iran on Wednesday hit back at US President Donald Trump's threat to "annihilate the Islamic Republic", calling it an "absolutely illegal" threat and saying Washington's use of the UN General Assembly to threaten military action amounted to an admission of committing international crimes.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei also criticised Trump's address to the 81st UN General Assembly as a series of "repetitive claims and accusations", saying the remarks reflected "desperation" rather than authority.
