Tehran, Aug. 22 -- Iran has doubled its production of defense weapons and military equipment over the past year, according to Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics.
Speaking in an interview, Talaei-Nik said the expansion of domestic defense production had strengthened Iran's military preparedness while reducing the country's reliance on foreign suppliers, Iran state media reported.
He described Iran's defense industry as a critical pillar of national security, particularly because of its ability to rapidly manufacture and replenish weapons, ammunition and other military equipment used in combat.
