Tehran, April 3 -- Iranian forces claim to have shot down two advanced US fighter jets on Friday, including a second F-35, despite US President Donald Trump's earlier claims that Iran's air defences have been destroyed.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) "confirmed" the intercepts. In a statement, the IRGC said its newly developed air defence systems successfully targeted and downed a stealth F-35 fighter jet in central Iran.
The aircraft, which belonged to the US Air Force's Lakenheath squadron, was completely destroyed, and the fate of the pilot remains unclear due to the extent of the damage, said IRGC.
