Tehran, May 18 -- With the Strait of Hormuz being a major point of contention between the US and Iran, Iran's top security body has announced the formation of a new agency to manage the vital waterway. It has also joined hands with Oman to create a new mechanism to regulate maritime transit through this strategically important passage.

As no deal has been reached between the US and Tehran following the US-Israeli attack against the Islamic Republic, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday that Tehran remains in "constant contact" with Oman and other relevant parties to design a framework aimed at ensuring secure and uninterrupted navigation through the waterway, one of the world's most critical energy corridors. ...
