Muscat, June 29 -- Iran and Oman held the first meeting of a newly established Joint Hormuz Committee, marking a formal step toward structured dialogue on the future governance and management of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most strategically significant shipping lanes.
This move comes after Iran and the US exchanged fire for four consecutive days after the signing of the 14-point MoU.
According to Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, the meeting took place in Muscat during his official visit and included discussions with Oman's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Abdulaziz al-Hinai.
