New Delhi, March 19 -- Delhi Police on Thursday arrested an interstate supplier and seized a large consignment of illicit liquor being transported into the national capital, an official said.

The accused was identified as 22-year-old Mohd. Naushad, a resident of Inder Puri.

According to the police, the operation was carried out by the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Dwarka district as part of the ongoing campaign "Nasha Par Lagam, Desh Ko Salaam," aimed at curbing drug abuse and illegal liquor circulation.

Kushal Pal Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), said that, acting on a specific tip-off backed by technical surveillance, the police team intercepted a pickup vehicle near Shyam Vihar Road on the night of March 9.
