Kolkata, June 15 -- In an interesting development the West Bengal government has made participation in International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21 mandatory for all government employees.
The directive was issued by the Chief Secretary's office on June 14.
The notification said that employees across all levels of the state government, including permanent, temporary, contractual, daily-wage, outsourced and honorarium-based workers must attend Yoga Day programmes between 6:30 am and 7:45 am.
Employees have been asked to participate at their respective offices, residential complexes, or designated venues such as Red Road and Milan Mela grounds in Kolkata.
