Tehran, July 9 -- Global shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has declined sharply following a fresh round of US strikes on Iranian coastal targets.
According to marine tracking data, some vessels may be continuing to transit the Strait without active transponders, making an accurate assessment difficult.
The latest US strikes were launched on Wednesday and Thursday after drone attacks targeted three commercial vessels that Iran said had crossed the Strait of Hormuz without its authorisation.
In a statement today, Iran's theocratic guard, the IRGC, insisted that foreign powers had no say in determining navigation arrangements in the waterway.
