Kolkata, April 23 -- A 13-member delegation of international observers visited several booths in Siliguri and Matigara in North Bengal to witness first-hand the electoral process during the ongoing Assembly elections.

The visit has been organised under the Election Commission's International Election Visitors Programme (IEVP), aimed at showcasing India's democratic practices to global participants.

According to Apurva Kumar Singh, Deputy Director of the Election Commission, the delegation comprises representatives from Namibia, Georgia, Nepal, the Philippines, Switzerland and Kenya, along with members from the Sweden-based International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance.
