Bengaluru, Aug. 30 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has sounded an early electoral alarm within the Congress, with an internal assessment reportedly identifying 55 sitting party MLAs as vulnerable to defeat in the 2028 Assembly elections.
The assessment, which has triggered concern within the ruling party, was discussed at a recent meeting of Congress legislators, where Shivakumar reportedly made it clear that poor ground connect, inadequate development work and negative public perception could cost several MLAs their seats in 2028.
Shivakumar reportedly told the legislators that there was still about one-and-a-half years to turn around the situation, but warned that merely holding the party ticket would not guarantee victory.
