Dharamshala, Sept. 8 -- Kangra Lok Sabha MP Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj on Monday stressed strict enforcement of road safety rules and greater public awareness to reduce road accidents in the district. He said Intelligent Traffic Management Systems (ITMS) had been installed at 11 locations in the district.

Chairing a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee, Bhardwaj said nearly 93 per cent of road accidents were attributed to human error, making awareness campaigns as important as enforcement and penalties.

He said 111 people were killed, 101 seriously injured and 380 suffered minor injuries in road accidents in Kangra in 2025. So far in 2026, 87 people have died, while 78 suffered serious and 359 minor injuries.
