Nagpur, Aug. 5 -- : A 16-year-old girl was allegedly abducted, wrongfully confined in a rented flat , subjected to brutal physical torture and sexually assaulted by a 19-year-old youth she had befriended through Instagram in Nagpur, police said on Wednesday.
According to police, the Class XII student had developed an online friendship with the accused over the past few months.
The accused is the son of a well-known Thane-based doctor and the nephew of a senior Maharashtra Police officer.
Police said the accused had been in touch with the survivor under the fake identity of "Akash Mehra" and had travelled to Nagpur twice during the past year.
