Washington, June 18 -- In a potentially landmark diplomatic breakthrough, the United States and Iran have signed the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding," outlining a broad framework to end hostilities, ease regional tensions, revive commercial navigation in the Persian Gulf, and pave the way for a comprehensive peace agreement within 60 days.
The proposed deal includes commitments to cease military operations, roll back sanctions, restore maritime trade, address concerns over Iran's nuclear programme, and launch a multibillion-dollar reconstruction and economic development initiative, marking one of the most ambitious attempts in decades to reset relations between the two longtime adversaries.
