Hyderabad, March 3 -- Private airlines IndiGo announced the launch of daily non-stop flights between Kolkata and Shanghai, effective from March 29.
The service will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft, the airline said in a release on Monday.
The development follows the recent reinstatement of the carrier's operations to Guangzhou and is aimed at strengthening air connectivity between India and China.
Shanghai, regarded as China's financial and commercial capital, is expected to support expanding trade linkages. Exports from West Bengal to China - including marine products, leather goods and specialised textiles - have recorded growth in FY25-26, and the direct air link is expected to further facilitate business travel.
