Pune, March 19 -- Senior Congress spokesperson Gopal Tiwari claimed here on Thursday that the safe passage of two Indian oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz was not due to efforts by the Central Government or the External Affairs Ministry, but entirely because of the goodwill of the Indian people.
In a statement, Tiwari said that Iran has historically been a friendly nation to India. He criticized the government's diplomatic approach, pointing out that while Iran was facing threats, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted an invitation from Israel and received an award from Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he described as a controversial global figure. He further alleged that Israel launched an attack on Iran shortly after that engagement.
