New York, July 2 -- India on Wednesday pressed the United Nations to adopt the long-pending Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT), warning that the absence of a universally accepted legal framework continues to weaken global efforts against terrorism and allow perpetrators and their sponsors to evade accountability.
Addressing the UN General Assembly during the adoption of the Ninth Review of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy (GCTS), India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, called for greater political resolve to conclude negotiations on the convention first proposed by New Delhi in 1996.
