Neeraj BaliChandigarh, July 17 -- India is set to take a major step towards cleaner rail transportation on Friday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to flag off the country's first hydrogen-powered passenger train between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana.
Once operational, India will join a select group of nations using hydrogen-powered rail technology, alongside Germany, France, Sweden and China. The project is being seen as part of the country's broader push towards green mobility and low-emission transport.
