New Delhi, July 4 -- Warning that liver disease and Type-2 diabetes are increasingly affecting younger Indians, Jitendra Singh, Minister of Science and Technology, on Saturday called for a nationwide shift towards preventive healthcare, saying the two conditions are part of a broader metabolic health crisis.

Speaking on the third anniversary of the Liver & Metabolic Disease Network (InFLiMeN) at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), Singh said fatty liver disease, hypertension, dyslipidaemia and insulin resistance are closely linked and often predispose individuals to one another.
