New Delhi, May 13 -- The Government of India has successfully secured the extradition of fugitive Iqbal Singh from Portugal in a major breakthrough against transnational crime and terror financing networks.

According to the Embassy of India Lisbon, Iqbal Singh, also known as Shera, is accused of multiple serious offences, including drug trafficking and financing terrorism. He will now face trial before courts in India.

The extradition was carried out under the bilateral extradition treaty between India and Portugal and followed the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice against the accused.
