Hyderabad, Aug. 31 -- India's renewable energy sector has entered a new phase, moving beyond power generation towards an integrated ecosystem involving storage, transmission, manufacturing, green hydrogen, digital technologies and finance, Anupam Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), said on Monday.
Speaking at a roadshow in Hyderabad ahead of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026, scheduled from November 2 to 5 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, he said India had crossed 300 GW of non-fossil fuel-based electricity capacity as of July 31, 2026, including around 165 GW of solar and over 50 GW of wind capacity.
