New Delhi, July 29 -- India's residential real estate market could witness a surge in resale inventory as a large number of non-resident Indians (NRIs) prepare to offload their property holdings, reflecting a shift in investment priorities rather than weakness in the housing sector.
According to the Remittor Annual NRI Wealth Report 2026, nearly half of NRI property owners surveyed intend to sell their Indian real estate immediately, while another one-fourth expect to do so within the next six months.
The report suggests that homes purchased during the peak NRI investment cycle between 2010 and 2019 are now entering a monetisation phase, with owners increasingly treating them as financial assets instead of long-term family holdings.
