Dhaka, Sept. 15 -- Bangladesh Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman said on Tuesday that handing over of convicted individuals and wanted fugitives by India, including former PM Sheikh Hasina and former Transport Minister Obaidul Quader, currently staying in exile in India, was critical for easing the strained relations between the two neighbouring countries.

Clarifying Dhaka's position on the matter while responding to media queries at a press briefing, the Adviser said the issue was also raised prominently during a courtesy meeting with the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi.
