New Delhi, June 17 -- India has restored 21.76 million hectares of degraded land against its commitment to restore 26 million hectares by 2030 under the Bonn Challenge, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said on Wednesday, as the country marked World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.

Speaking at an event organised by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Yadav said the restoration target announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is among the world's largest landscape restoration commitments.
