New Delhi, Aug. 3 -- India recorded 20,138 organ transplants in 2025, the highest ever in a single year, according to the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) Annual Report 2025-26 released by the union Health Ministry on Monday.

The figure marks a 6.5pc increase over 18,911 transplants in 2024 and is more than four times the 4,990 transplants performed in 2013.

The report was released during the 16th Indian Organ Donation Day event here, where the Ministry also launched 'e-Pratyaropan', a unified digital platform aimed at integrating hospitals, doctors, donors, recipients and transplant authorities into a single system for registration, wait-list management, organ allocation and monitoring.
