Bengaluru, Aug. 15 -- India has emerged as the world's fourth-largest economic power and is on course to become the world's No. 1 economy by 2047, Karnataka Legislative Council Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy said on Saturday, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the country's rapid economic and developmental progress.
Addressing an Independence Day function at the BJP state headquarters, Jagannatha Bhavan, in Malleswaram here, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy said India's development was no longer progressing at a conventional pace but was "surging ahead".
