New Delhi, April 28 -- The India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is set to open a new growth chapter for India's textile and apparel sector, with government data and industry stakeholders highlighting strong export potential, enhanced competitiveness and job creation prospects.

According to official data, the agreement provides comprehensive market access for Indian goods, including textiles, apparel and made-ups, with tariff elimination expected to significantly improve price competitiveness in the New Zealand market.

New Zealand imports textiles worth about USD 0.33 billion, apparel worth USD 1.27 billion, and made-ups worth USD 0.33 billion annually.
