Gangtok/Shimla/New Delhi, Aug. 2 -- Cross-border trade between India and China resumed today through the Shipki-La pass in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh and through the Nathu-la Pass in Sikkim, after a hiatus of six years.
In Himachal Pradesh, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi inaugurated the Chhupan Trade Mart at Namgya, a border panchayat in Pooh subdivision of Kinnaur district, and flagged off a group of 16 traders to begin the cross-border trade.
The cross-border trade had remained suspended since 2020 following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and border tensions.
