New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- India's spinners made short work of Japan as the defending champions stormed into the women's Asian Games semifinals with an eight-wicket win over the hosts on Friday.
Opting to field, India bowled 95 deliveries of spin, with their four spinners combining to take eight wickets for just 46 runs as Japan were dismissed for 57. Left-arm spinner Shree Charani was the pick of the bowlers, returning career-best figures of 4/10 from her four overs. She bowled 20 dot balls and kept the Japanese batters under constant pressure. Shafali Verma chipped in with two wickets, while Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil took one each.
