Bhubaneswar, July 9 -- The Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) and SUM Hospital has become the first hospital in Odisha to establish an in-house genomics facility, enabling advanced molecular diagnostics and precision medicine for cancer and genetic disorders within the state.

The state-of-the-art laboratory is equipped with advanced genomic technologies, including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), cytogenetics, Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH), polymerase chain reaction (PCR), real-time PCR and Sanger sequencing. The facility will support the diagnosis, classification and monitoring of a broad spectrum of cancers, hematological diseases and inherited genetic disorders.
