Hyderabad, Aug. 24 -- The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC), headed by Chairperson Dr Justice Shameem Akther, has directed the State government to take immediate steps to improve basic infrastructure and amenities in government schools across Telangana.
The Commission took suo motu cognisance of a July 3 report in Telugu daily Sakshi highlighting that students in several government schools were attending classes under trees, in verandas and in community buildings due to inadequate classrooms, toilets and other facilities.
Reports submitted by the District Educational Officers of Adilabad, Jangaon, Nalgonda and Suryapet confirmed infrastructure deficiencies, including damaged classrooms, repair requirements and shortage of toilets....
