Panchkula, June 21 -- Intense summer conditions persisted across northwestern India on Saturday, with Bathinda in Punjab recording 42.5degrees Celsius and Rohtak in Haryana touching 42.1 degree C, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a gradual fall in temperatures and increased thunderstorm activity across the region over the next two days.
The IMD has forecast isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi until June 24. A fall of around 2 degree C in maximum temperatures is expected across most parts of northwest India during the next two days, bringing temporary respite from the ongoing heat.
