Mumbai, April 27 -- The Thane Forest Department has intensified its crackdown on illegal encroachments, undertaking a major demolition drive in the forest areas of Kalwa.
Acting firmly to protect forest land and prevent environmental damage, authorities removed around 15 to 16 unauthorised hutments in the Gholai Nagar and Pandapada localities. The decisive action has reportedly caused concern among land mafia operating in the region.
According to officials, illegal construction activity had recently surged in areas falling under forest survey numbers 97 and 436 in Kalwa. In response, the administration launched an immediate drive to safeguard forest land and curb further encroachments.
