Manas R BannerjeeSiliguri, Sept. 19 -- Experts from IIT Kanpur will visit the flood- and erosion-hit areas of Malda's Manikchak, Ratua and adjoining areas to conduct an erosion study of the Ganga and help formulate a permanent protection scheme, Malda District Magistrate Rajanvir Singh Kapoor said in an action-taken report on the flood situation.
The expert team will also conduct an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) survey, particularly in Bhutni and the island areas. The survey will provide data on the river's depth, velocity, width and discharge, which will help in preparing a long-term plan to check erosion.
