Hamburg, May 24 -- Ignacio Buse of Peru claimed his maiden title, defeating sixth seed Tommy Paul 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 6-3 on the clay of Am Rothenbaum to win the Hamburg Open.
The 22-year-old Buse had arrived in Hamburg without a seeding or a single ATP Tour title to his name. He leaves having beaten the defending champion and the fourth seed Flavio Cobolli of Italy and Paul, the world No. 26.
U.S. star Paul dropped a tight opening tie-break in set one, but took the second set 6-4 to level the match on Saturday.
