Lucknow, March 19 -- A political controversy has emerged following the arrest of 14 Muslim youths accused of organising an iftar gathering on a boat in the Ganga River in Varanasi.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar on Thursday criticised Akhilesh Yadav, calling his remarks on the issue "incorrect" and politically driven. He maintained that the government is taking appropriate action.

The controversy intensified after Yadav questioned the arrests and the administration's response.
