Bhubaneswar, March 6 -- The inauguration of the Sulphuric Acid Plant Stream-3 at IFFCO's Paradip unit by union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah marks a significant step towards Odisha's self-reliance in fertiliser production, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Friday.
Addressing a gathering at the event, the Chief Minister said the newly inaugurated facility will produce nearly 2,000 tonnes of sulphuric acid per day.
At present, India imports about six lakh metric tonnes of sulphuric acid annually, he said, adding that once the plant becomes fully operational, the need for imports will be eliminated.
