New Delhi, April 15 -- Tributes poured in on the 107th birth anniversary of Marshal Arjan Singh with the Indian Air Force describing him as a symbol of exceptional leadership, courage and foresight, and saying his service to the nation continues to inspire generations of Air Warriors.

Born on April 15, 1919, he became the first officer to be appointed as Air Chief Marshal of the Indian Air Force and went on to serve with exceptional distinction. He held the longest tenure as Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of an operational command during 1949-52 and again from 1957-61, demonstrating remarkable leadership and operational acumen.
