New Delhi, Aug. 15 -- Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said the national capital would play a leading role in India's journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, asserting that her government was working to build a clean, modern and self-reliant Delhi with greater opportunities for women and youth.

On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Gupta said the day not only commemorated the struggle that secured India's freedom but also reminded the country of its resolve to build a developed and prosperous nation.

Addressing the younger generation, she said the responsibility of fulfilling the dreams of the freedom fighters who secured a free India through their sacrifice and martyrdom rested on the youth.
