Hyderabad, Aug. 14 -- The Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Society (TSCS) on Friday initiated efforts to facilitate access to gene therapy for thalassemia patients across India, following an exploratory visit to leading treatment centres in Thailand.

A TSCS delegation visited Thailand and other countries recognised as leading destinations for gene therapy in thalassemia care to study treatment protocols, infrastructure and potential collaboration opportunities.

The visit was undertaken in partnership with Sunil Bhat, a bone marrow transplant (BMT) specialist, and his team, the society said in a release here.
