Hyderabad, Aug. 9 -- India's plastics industry needs a strong talent and knowledge ecosystem to sustain its growth and emerge as a global manufacturing and innovation hub, according to PlastIndia Foundation President Raju Desai.

Speaking at the inauguration of HIPLEX 2026 here on Saturday in the presence of Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, Desai said specialised education, research and innovation would be critical to meet the changing requirements of the industry.

He highlighted the role of PlastIndia International University (PIU), promoted by the PlastIndia Foundation, in developing professionals, technologists, researchers and entrepreneurs for the plastics and polymer sector.
