Hyderabad, June 4 -- Doctors at KIMS Hospitals, Kondapur, have performed a rare and highly complex laparoscopic Whipple procedure on a 52-year-old woman who had previously undergone open pancreatic surgery, marking a significant achievement in minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery.
The patient, a resident of Hyderabad, had undergone a lateral pancreaticojejunostomy several years ago for chronic calcific pancreatitis, the hospital said in a release here on Thursday.
She recently approached the hospital with symptoms including jaundice and recurrent vomiting.
