Hyderabad, July 16 -- Doctors at the Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU), Hyderabad, successfully removed a kidney tumour from a six-year-old boy born with a rare congenital condition known as a crossed fused ectopic kidney using advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.
A hospital statement on Thursday said the child was admitted after passing blood in his urine. Investigations revealed a tumour in the rare condition where both kidneys are fused and located on the same side of the body, making surgery highly complex due to abnormal anatomy and blood vessels.
