Kolkata, July 1 -- In a show of defiance, Rejinagar MLA Humayun Kabir on Wednesday said he would not appear before one of the two police stations that have summoned him over his controversial "satabhanga mar" (merciless beating) remark, asserting that he was not afraid of arrest and would face any legal consequences.
Kabir, however, indicated that he was willing to appear before Rejinagar Police Station at a later date, while making it clear that he attaches little importance to the summons.
"What will happen if I go to the police station? Will they arrest me? If they do, let them. Humayun is not bothered about such things," the Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) legislator told reporters.
