Kolkata, June 2 -- Two suitcases filled with bundles of cash, much of it damaged by termites and other insects, were recovered from a locked union room at Kolkata's Surendranath College on Tuesday, police said.
The cops were alerted by civic workers who had gone to clean the union room.
After receiving the alert, a team from the Muchipara police station reached the college.
The cash is estimated to be worth between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 60 lakh, although the exact amount is yet to be determined as many of the notes have deteriorated after being stored for a prolonged period, a police officer saidThe college authorities have also filed a formal complaint, and investigators have begun examining the circumstances under which the money was found...
