Kolkata, June 7 -- In a bizarre incident, huge quantities of baby foods, medicines, police uniforms, spent ammunition casings and relief materials were allegedly recovered from the residence of a Trinamool Congress panchayat chief in South 24-Parganas, triggering widespread controversy and political sparring in the district.
The recovery was made late on Saturday night from the residence of Maidul Islam, pradhan of Kamarpol Gram Panchayat under the Sarisha area in the Diamond Harbour Assembly constituency.
The incident has sparked outrage among local residents and raised questions over the storage of government supplies and police-related materials at a private residence.
