Shimla, March 21 -- The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a significant increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for turmeric, raising it from Rs 90 to Rs 150 per kg, marking a Rs 60 hike aimed at boosting farmers' income.

In addition, the state has fixed the MSP for ginger at Rs 30 per kg, providing price assurance to growers cultivating the crop across various districts.

The government also unveiled a series of measures to strengthen the horticulture and allied sectors. A subsidy of Rs 5,000 would be provided for seed production, while efforts will be made to promote seed storage units to ensure better preservation and quality of planting material.
