Shimla, Feb. 24 -- The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Tuesday deferred the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the extension of the tenures of Shimla Mayor Surinder Chauhan and Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, till next Monday.

The matter came up before a division bench comprising Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Justice Bipin Chandra Negi. During the proceedings, the court reviewed submissions concerning the status of the amendment Bill passed by the state Assembly in relation to the extensions of tenure.
